Silly me, keeping this cool thing to myself for the last several days!  Moonscream and Lil Screamy are guest stars in 'The 12 Days of Haxxmas' storyline in Autobus Prime's Blurry Robot Theater on TFW!

Go here for the first page, tho you have to scroll down for the strip.

Madeline is not dropping the weight she gained while being allowed to free-feed when I was sick.  And she's had two 'accidents'...tho the second can't really be called an accident because I was in the bathroom with her when she deliberately decided to leave the litterbox and hop into the bathtub to poop on the fluffy carrier pad that's been in there for her to sleep on when she's locked in the bathroom, causing me to have to clean all that up. :P  I've had to lock her in there the last few nights because she suddenly wants to eat at 4 am and tries to get her snacks via eating paper and plastic...or my carousel horse's tail, Bitter Apple and all.  Really not sure what's going on with her...

And she just knocked things over on the Nativity shelf because she decided to climb onto the shelf below it again, which currently contains piles of TFs.

*sigh*
--------------------------

On a comic note, I've read a bit about the recent Keenspot shakeup.  They say ComicGenesis, where Seekerlets is located, is going to be unaffected 'for the foreseeable future' but I doubt that 'future' is going to be very long, especially when it comes to support that will require money.  So I'm going to put together a backup House of a Thousand Seekerlets gallery at TFW, as well as a gallery of my fan art.

I was going through one of the boxes of junk that I have and I found one of my old sketchbooks from circa 2000 - 2003.  Along with several pictures from a furry art challenge that used to take place on FurryMUCK (including both that won me mini stuffed cheetahs which proudly reside on my shelves), was this adorable sketch I did for a then-friend.  It had words that had been erased in order to scan it, so I added new versions:

Sketchin's!

Was originally just Sludge Practice, but then I went ahead and added Lil Screamy and Ronin since I was planning to do a pic like this anyway of the three of them. :)  Ronin belongs to the friend I know as Mirmorchaint.

Closeup:

(what is it with me and drawing people as lefthanded!  I just noticed I drew Screamy like that again...Sludge seemed like that's what he wanted to be.)

Another sketch for that commission: (I know, I know, her ankle's bad...)

And part of an image that's been in my head for a while:

I also found a couple of already sketched comics I'd forgotten about...

My Encounter With Will Eisner, Comic God

I've been a fan of Will Eisner's work since the early 90's when I attended a Smithsonian sponsored lecture by him.  Previous to that, I just knew he was a very well respected person in the comics community, which I wanted to join as a writer if not an artist ('cause I really sucked at the time).  They did a series of 6 with various people from the comics community coming to speak on comics and their creation.  IIRC it also included Scott McCloud (but I could be wrong on that) and Jim Lee, who's lecture I also attended.  For Mr. Eisner's lecture, which was the first one, I was in full dress uniform having had to leave from work at the Pentagon in order to get there in time.

He talked about the history of comics as he knew it, from missing out on buying Superman to his invention of the graphic novel, then how he himself constructed stories, using his soon-to-come-out graphic novel Dropsie Avenue.  I asked him some dumb question about how he felt about the 'bad girl' trend, fully unaware of the fact that he wrote such girls regularly...because young idiot that I was at the time I didn't do my research beforehand. XD  I did it afterward...and was truly amazed at his mastery of the comic form, and based my poor attempts at comickry on what I learned from him (yeah, I know, doesn't show much in Seekerlets...but I try).

Which is why I was glad to see this, which almost could have been drawn by him...

Am I looking forward to The Spirit?  HELLS YES.

And for the record, while I fully agree that A Contract With God is a masterpiece, my favorite is still Dropsie Avenue.

Still coughing.  Spike doesn't want to sleep with me because I'm too restless and coughy.  Spent most of the day in bed this time.

Its been snowing since yesterday morning.  Almost all of the huge snowpack was gone, so this is just a dusting in comparison that's melting off the roads and sidewalks.  Its supposed to snow through Saturday, tho.  Hopefully its frozen all the bugs that have already hatched, and probably has done the same to the marigold seeds I scattered.  Which is okay, since it was an experiment to see if they'd do well reseeding themselves later on, and I'm not going to be worried about emergence until late May, early June.

COMIC NEWS:  Yes, there is news about the comic!  I did the rough pencils for three strips today.  One is giving me trouble because it calls for some forced perspective and my perspective skills on robots rival Pat Lee in suckiness.  Its much easier to do fleshies and curved 'bots like Zephyr than its is squared off ones like Lil Screamy.  Storywise...it doesn't always go as I'd like, as gag strips with Screamy and Zephyr tend to be more fun to do...but some of the odder bits I put in need explanation with story strips.  Oh well, I'm just doing it for fun anyway, we'll see how it goes. :)

COMIC NEWS: Still on hiatus until I get one of those J-shaped gamer's chairs and get other things squared away.  My current setup isn't all that comfortable to work in for hours at a time.

HOME STUFF: Well, I got the key to my new apartment at 3 pm on the 29th, so I grabbed some of the bulky but light items, stuffed them in the grocery cart my old apartment has, and carted them over.  The next day I started the moving in earnest, and had everything moved over by about 11 am the next day (of course I stopped to sleep!), and then cleaned the old apartment.

Spike spent both days in the bathroom with his carrier, food, and litterbox, and didn't do very well.  He's always had another cat with him to share the misery even if they didn't like eachother (which was true of him and Miaka), but this time he was alone and he freaked out.  The cupboard was slightly ajar, so he climbed in there and became so disoriented he couldn't figure out how to get out...and when I opened the door for him and told him to come out, he tried to climb through the back of the cupboard.  Once all our stuff was in the apartment and I let him out, he settled down, but it took a few days to get his health back to what passes for 'normal' now.  I do have to give him fluids every other day, tho, versus the previous schedule of every three and only if he needed it.
Possibly Boring Moving Stuff )

I haven't even mentioned my youthful neighbors!  Living in a one-bedroom apartment with their maybe three year old daughter, two medium sized dogs, and a few cats...who have recieved a ten-day notice because the dogs are over the weight limit, and who are stupid enough that they're letting their dogs roam even after that.  They've peed on my porch, crapped under my bedroom window, and ate my container of compost tea, so I'll be glad to see the dogs go to a better home or my neighbors leave completely.  I brought the crap up to the neighbor, who later claimed she 'didn't see it' after I left a civilly pointed note on her door and the scooped crap in a bag next to their door....which is STILL there 4 days later.  Their kid is awfully cute, tho, and did the same thing my ex-roommate's granddaughter did, which was to try to run out and hug me. :)

Okay, I've probably bored you all enough now.  My knee is feeling much better now, and today I'm trying  'Yourealitea Quick Flush' all natural detox capsules, since I'm not going anywhere today and thus wouldn't need to worry about proximity to a bathroom as my system 'flushes'! XD

I've been reading the webcomic Achewood since just after the halfway point of the legendary Great Outdoor Fight storyline, having been pointed to it by Websnark.  Now, the art isn't great, but its MORE than made up for by the writing and the sheer...comic weirdness, for lack of a better word.

Well, I went to the website for today's strip, and saw this little note pointing to...

COMIC STRIPS: Okay, I had some strips thought up for our Seekerlets' favorite holiday, but it looks like I am probably moving this month, most likely between Christmas and New Years.  Depends on if my application gets approved quickly or not.  Its literally just down the street and across the way, but its a different kind of housing and I don't know how this stuff goes exactly.  if things go well, I should be all moved in there on New Years Day.  Once I find out what's up, I might be able to produce a strip or some cards, too.  But I don't know.  I haven't abandoned the strip...I just keep going in stops and starts.

Spike Watch and Comic News

Well, Spike's on the upswing today.  He ate all his breakfast while locked in the bathroom during the time the electricians were installing a new breaker box and heater, and he's looking better, having gained a half pound or something back - probably water weight, tho.  He's been pretty cold, tho.  The new heater works better than the other space heater I was given to use by the building owner last year, but its not going to be on all the time.  I remembered the name of that type of breathing he's been doing, kussmaul breathing.  I found a few descriptions on diabetic websites that do sound more like it than just simply congestive heart failure breathing.  His inability to keep his temp up still indicates some heart trouble, tho, or other failures somewhere.

COMIC NEWS: I've decided that the storyline will continue sometime in January.  This month will consist of some Christmas fun, should I get it done.  I find its kind of hard to draw in my lap when there's a cat who at various times wants to only be in my arms.  I no longer have a drawing desk or other table to draw on, so I usually do it in my lap or while sitting on my bed...where he also wants to be held.

Comic Genesis's entry page has pogs of the various comics, made up by the artists and randomized so they're always different.  I made one for Seekerlets last year of Zephyr and uploaded it, not bothering with checking to see if it ever came up.  Until today.

Today, I just got this feeling and decided to check the page for the first time in something like a year.  And guess what showed up as the second pog! :D  Too bad I don't know how to make a screencap, but it did show up again about 10 reloads later. :)

One of these days I suppose I ought to do a Gen-chan, the girl on the left side.

SPIKE WATCH: Spike is doing well today, he played with me and his wand toy for a while, but I stopped it before he got excessively tired and out of breath, and now he's napping on the cat pillow I forgot I had until I pulled it out of storage the other day along with all the rest of my stuffed animals.

Screamy isn't doing very well earning his Evil Badge! XD

It took me a year to do this comic, because of the subject matter.

Thinking of a little kid who's parents can only afford a used costume or something like just a sheet but who's terribly excited about going trick or treating...then doesn't get any candy...

...I literally cried several days before doing this comic, and tear up just typing this.  :'(

I don't know why it affects me like this, I don't have memories of it happening to me or anyone else I know...it just does.
